Home Easy Limited (Home Easy) is a Fairfield, New Jersey based company that manufactures non-central air conditioners and dehumidifiers. Home Easy sold or offered for sale room air conditioners, portable air conditioners and dehumidifiers in California, from July 2015 to February 2021.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Home Easy was manufacturing and offering for sale room air conditioners, portable air conditioners and dehumidifiers that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Home Easy executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on April 14, 2023, for $38,446.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Home Easy has also agreed to a compliance plan to certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
