Imperial Cal Products (Imperial) is a Brea, California, based company who manufactures kitchen range hoods. Imperial sold or offered for sale kitchen range hoods in California, during the time period of July 2015 to March 2018.

This case was the ongoing investigative efforts of the California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) staff. The Energy Commission's investigation process identified Imperial manufacturing and offering for sale kitchen range hoods not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDBS).

To settle this matter, Imperial executed a Settlement Agreement with the Energy Commission on October 10, 2018, for $10,313.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Imperial has also agreed to a compliance plan to test and certify each basic model to MAEDBS before continuing to sell into California.
