Kalamera, Inc. (Kalamera) is a Las Vegas, Nevada, based company that manufactures miscellaneous refrigeration products. Kalamera sold or offered for sale non-compliant wine coolers in California, from July 2015 to September 2020.

This case was the result of an industry complaint. The California Energy Commission's (CEC) investigation process identified that Kalamera was manufacturing and offering for sale wine coolers that did not meet the efficiency standard and were not properly certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Kalamera executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on November 4, 2021, for $75,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Kalamera has also agreed to a compliance plan to discontinue sales of all non-compliant models in California, and to test and certify the complaint models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell into California.
