Kano Computing Limited (Kano) is a London, United Kingdom, based company that manufactures notebook computers. Kano sold or offered for sale notebook computers in California, from January 2019 to April 2021.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC's investigation and testing process identified that Kano was manufacturing and offering for sale notebook computers that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Kano executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on August 26, 2021, for $25,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Kano has also agreed to a compliance plan to test and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
