KAZE Appliance Inc. (KAZE) is a Union City, California, based company who sells and distributes residential exhaust fans. KAZE sold or offered for sale 301 units of residential exhaust fans in California, during the time period of July 2015 to July 2017.

This case started as an anonymous complaint. The Energy Commission's (Commission) investigation process identified KAZE selling or offering for sale residential exhaust fans not certified to the Appliance Efficiency Database (Database).

To settle this matter, KAZE executed a Settlement Agreement with the Commission on December 8, 2017, for $3,311.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011(Pavley). KAZE has also agreed to a compliance plan to test and certify each basic model to the Database before continuing to sell into California.
