Kohler Co. is a company that manufactures plumbing fittings and plumbing fixtures based in Kohler, Wisconsin. Kohler Co. sold or offered for sale lavatory faucets, kitchen faucets, urinals, and tub spout diverters in California, from January 2020 to February 2024.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Kohler Co. was manufacturing and offering for sale lavatory faucets, kitchen faucets, urinals, and tub spout diverters that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To resolve this matter, Kohler Co. executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on August 31, 2026, for $32,424.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount as required in Public Resources Code section 25402.11. Kohler Co. has also agreed to a compliance plan to test and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
