LEDVANCE LLC (LEDVANCE) is a company that manufactures lighting products based in Wilmington, Massachusetts. LEDVANCE sold or offered for sale state-regulated light emitting diode lamps (SLEDs) and state-regulated small-diameter directional lamps (SDDLs) in California, from December 2019 to December 2023.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that LEDVANCE was manufacturing and offering for sale Sylvania brand SLEDs and SDDLs that did not meet the efficiency standard, were not marked properly, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To resolve this matter, LEDVANCE executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on January 31, 2025, for $50,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount as required in Public Resources Code 25402.11. LEDVANCE has also agreed to a compliance plan to periodically verify non-compliant models are blocked from sale in California and, test and list all eligible models in MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California
