Marey International, LLC (Marey) is a Miami, Florida, based company that manufactures water heaters. Marey sold or offered for sale water heaters in California, from July 2015 to November 2019.

This case was the result of an anonymous complaint. The California Energy Commission's (CEC) investigation process identified that Marey was manufacturing and offering for sale water heaters that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Marey executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on November 16, 2020, for $20,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Marey has also agreed to a compliance plan to certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
