Mohawk Group Holdings, Inc. (Mohawk) is a New York, New York, based company that manufactures refrigeration coolers, dishwashers, ice makers, rechargeable projectors, and power banks. Mohawk sold or offered for sale these products in California, from September 2017 to February 2020.

This case was the result of an anonymous complaint. The California Energy Commission's investigation process identified that Mohawk was manufacturing and offering for sale refrigeration coolers, dishwashers, ice makers, rechargeable projectors, and power banks that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Mohawk executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on June 9, 2020, for $150,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Mohawk has also agreed to a compliance plan to discontinue sales of non-compliant models, and test and certify all compliant models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
