Newair Incorporated (Newair) is a company that manufactures refrigeration products based in Cypress, California. Newair sold or offered for sale freezers, wine chillers and beverage refrigerators in California, from May 2021 to May 2025.

This case was the result of a complaint. CEC’s investigation identified that Newair was manufacturing and offering for sale freezers, wine chillers and beverage refrigerators that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To resolve this matter, Newair executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on December 20, 2025, for $20,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount as required in Public Resources Code 25402.11. Newair has also agreed to a compliance plan to test and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
