Newegg, Inc. (Newegg) is a City of Industry, California based company that manufactures portable air conditioners. Newegg sold or offered for sale portable air conditioners in California, from June 2021 to May 2022.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Newegg was manufacturing and offering for sale portable air conditioners that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Newegg executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on September 19, 2022, for $45,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Newegg has also agreed to a compliance plan to test and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
