NZXT Incorporated (NZXT) is a City of Industry, California based company that manufactures computers. NZXT sold or offered for sale high expandability computers in California, from November 2018 to November 2022.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that NZXT was manufacturing and offering for sale high expandability computers that did not meet the efficiency standard and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, NZXT executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on December 6, 2023, for $194,643.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). NZXT has also agreed to a compliance plan to ensure all computers include automatic settings to meet the performance requirement and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
