Razor USA LLC (Razor) is a Cerritos, California, based company that manufactures electric recreational vehicles which contain small battery charger systems (SBCS). From July 2015 through December 2016, Razor sold or offered for sale electric recreational vehicles which contain SBCS, in California, through various retailers.

The California Energy Commission (Commission) staff tested three of these electric recreational vehicles at the California State University, Sacramento - College of Engineering Energy Efficiency Laboratory and found they met the energy efficiency standards and labeling requirements per the Appliance Efficiency Regulations governing SBCS. However, these SBCS were not certified to the Appliance Efficiency Database (Database).

To settle this matter, Razor executed a Settlement Agreement with the Commission on July 24, 2017, for $90,000.00. Razor has certified their products to the Database. This investigation started as a result of a tip from Energy Commission staff. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011(Pavley).
