Sakar International Inc. (Sakar) is an Edison, New Jersey, based company who distributes Bluetooth speakers which contain a small battery charger system. Sakar sold or offered for sale Bluetooth speakers in California, during the time period of July 2013 to October 2017.

This case was a result of a market survey performed by California Energy Commission (Commission) staff. The Commission's investigation process identified Sakar distributing and offering for sale Bluetooth speakers not certified to the Appliance Efficiency Database (Database).

To settle this matter, Sakar executed a Settlement Agreement with the Commission on March 15, 2018, for $3,519.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011(Pavley). Sakar has also agreed to a compliance plan to remove the violating products from the California Market.
