Shen Zhen Shi Shu Yuan Science and Technology, Ltd (Shen Zhen) is a Shenzhen, China based company that manufactures plumbing fittings. Shen Zhen sold or offered for sale plumbing fittings in California, from July 2017 to July 2021.

This case was the result of a complaint. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Shen Zhen was manufacturing and offering for sale showerheads that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Shen Zhen executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on March 13, 2023, for $30,000. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Shen Zhen has also agreed to a compliance plan to redesign the non-compliant model to meet the efficiency standard, discontinue sales of non-compliant models, add the appropriate marking, and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
