Shenzhen Empire Showers Technology Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen) is a Shenzhen, China based company that manufactures plumbing fittings. Shenzhen sold or offered for sale showerheads, lavatory faucets and showerhead-tub spout diverter combinations in California, from August 2020 to August 2024.
This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Shenzhen was manufacturing and offering for sale Grandjoy and Everstein brand showerheads, lavatory faucets, and showerhead-tub spout diverter combinations that failed the performance requirements, were not marked properly, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).
To settle this matter, Shenzhen executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on November 25, 2024 for $11,059.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Shenzhen has also agreed to a compliance plan to discontinue sales of the non-compliant models, add the appropriate marking, and test and certify all models to MAEDbS.
