Shenzhen Hesung Innovation Technology Co. dba Dreo (Dreo) is a company that manufactures portable air conditioners based in Shenzhen, China. Dreo sold or offered for sale portable air conditioners in California, from January 2021 to January 2025.

This case was the result of a complaint. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Dreo was manufacturing and offering for sale portable air conditioners that did not meet the efficiency standard and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To resolve this matter, Dreo executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on August 26, 2025, for $119,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount as required in Public Resources Code section 25402.11. Dreo has also agreed to a compliance plan to redesign the non-compliant model to meet the efficiency standard and test and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
