Shenzhenshijiuqianyimaoyiyouxiangongsi (Shenzhen) is a Guangdong Province, China, based company that manufactures plumbing fittings. Shenzhen sold or offered for sale showerheads in California, from November 2021 to April 2024.
This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Shenzhen was manufacturing and offering for sale Dakings brand showerheads that did not meet the efficiency standard, was not marked properly, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).
To settle this matter, Shenzhen executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on November 8, 2024, for $3,302.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Shenzhen has also agreed to a compliance plan to discontinue sales of non-compliant models, perform the required testing, add the appropriate marking, and certify all models to MAEDbS before selling regulated products in California.
