Signify North America Corporation (Signify) is a Bridgewater, New Jersey based company that manufactures lighting products. Signify sold or offered for sale state-regulated light emitting diode lamps (SLEDs) in California, from January 2018 to March 2022.

This case was the result of an industry complaint. The California Energy Commission’s (CEC) investigation and testing process identified that Signify was manufacturing and offering for sale SLEDs that did not meet the efficiency standard and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Signify executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on August 04, 2022, for $123,109. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Signify has also agreed to a compliance plan to discontinue sales of non-compliant models in California and test and certify all compliant models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
