Solatube International, Inc. (Solatube) is a Vista, California, based company that manufactures whole house fans. Solatube sold or offered for sale whole house fans in California, from July 2017 to October 2018. 

This case was the result of an industry complaint. The California Energy Commission's (CEC) investigation process identified that Solatube was manufacturing and offering for sale whole house fans that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS). 

To settle this matter, Solatube executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on December 30, 2019, for $55,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Solatube has also agreed to a compliance plan to test and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
