Swiss Madison is a Dayton, New Jersey based company that manufactures plumbing fittings and plumbing fixtures. Swiss Madison sold or offered for sale kitchen faucets, lavatory faucets, and water closets in California, from August 2018 to August 2022.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Swiss Madison was manufacturing and offering for sale kitchen faucets, lavatory faucets, and water closets that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Swiss Madison executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on April 24, 2024, for $14,680.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Swiss Madison has also agreed to a compliance plan to redesign the non-compliant models to meet the efficiency standard, add the appropriate marking, and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
