Taizhou Minuote Sanitary Wares Company, Limited (Taizhou) is a Zhejiang, China based company that manufactures plumbing fittings. Taizhou sold or offered for sale lavatory faucets in California, from August 2022 to March 2023.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Taizhou was manufacturing and offering for sale lavatory faucets that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Taizhou executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on August 2, 2023, for $3,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Taizhou has also agreed to a compliance plan to discontinue sales of non-compliant models, add the appropriate marking, and test and certify all compliant models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
