The Toro Company (TTC) is a Bloomington, Minnesota based company that manufactures landscape irrigation equipment. TTC sold or offered for sale sprinkler spray bodies in California from October 2020 to May 2023.
This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that TTC was manufacturing and offering for sale sprinkler spray bodies that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).
To settle this matter, TTC executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on May 17, 2024, for $92,173.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). TTC has also agreed to a compliance plan discontinue sales of non-compliant models, add the appropriate marking, and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
