Tzumi Electronics, LLC (Tzumi) is a New York, New York, based company that manufactures rechargeable battery banks, speakers, microphones, and headphones. Tzumi sold or offered for sale rechargeable battery banks, speakers, microphones, and headphones in California, from July 2015 to October 2018.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC's investigation and testing process identified that Tzumi was manufacturing and offering for sale rechargeable battery banks, speakers, microphones, and headphones containing small battery charging systems that did not meet the marking requirement and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Tzumi executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on December 9, 2019, for $95,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Tzumi has also agreed to a compliance plan to add the appropriate marking and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
