Vanity Art, LLC (Vanity Art), is a Woodland, California, based company that manufactures plumbing fittings and residential exhaust fans. Vanity Art sold or offered for sale plumbing fittings and residential exhaust fans in California, from July 2015 to September 2020.

This case was the result of an industry complaint. The California Energy Commission's (CEC) investigation and testing process identified that Vanity Art was manufacturing and offering for sale lavatory faucets, kitchen faucets, showerhead-tub spout diverter combinations, showerheads, and residential exhaust fans that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS). Additionally, Vanity Art plumbing fittings did not meet the efficiency standard and were not marked properly.

To settle this matter, Vanity Art executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on March 16, 2021, for $85,548.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Vanity Art has also agreed to a compliance plan to redesign the non-compliant models to meet the efficiency standard, add the appropriate marking, and test and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
