ViewSonic Corporation (ViewSonic) is a Brea, California, based company that manufactures computer monitors. ViewSonic sold or offered for sale computer monitors in California, from July 2019 to January 2023.   

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that ViewSonic was manufacturing and offering for sale computer monitors that did not meet the efficiency standard and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, ViewSonic executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on December 8, 2023, for $34,739.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). ViewSonic has also agreed to a compliance plan to adjust its model numbers to include a designation for the region in which the monitor can be sold and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
