Wenzhou JiaHeng Electronic Commerce Company Limited (WJE) is a Wenzhou Zhejiang, China based company that manufactures plumbing fittings.  WJE sold or offered for sale showerheads in California, from November 2020 to August 2021.

This case was the result of an anonymous complaint. The California Energy Commission’s (CEC) investigation and testing process identified that WJE was manufacturing and offering for sale showerheads that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, WJE executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on March 4, 2022, for $22,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley).  WJE has also agreed to a compliance plan to discontinue sales of non-compliant models in California.  For models that meet the efficiency standard, WJE agrees to add the appropriate marking and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
