Wolf Appliances, Inc. (Wolf) is a Madison, Wisconsin based company that manufactures residential exhaust fans. From July 2015 to June 2017, Wolf sold or offered for sale 3,689 units of residential exhaust fans in California through various retailers.
Through the investigation process, the California Energy Commission (Commission) staff found Wolf residential exhaust fans to be in violation of the Appliance Efficiency Regulations. These residential exhaust fans were not marked correctly and were not certified to the Appliance Efficiency Database (Database).
To settle this matter, Wolf executed a settlement agreement (agreement) with the Commission on June 28, 2017, for $40,168.00. Wolf agreed to certify each basic model to the Database and add the required marking to the product and packaging. This investigation started as a result of an industry tip from an anonymous source stating that Wolf and other competitors failed to certify their residential exhaust fans to the Database. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011(Pavley).
