Zotac USA Incorporated (Zotac) is an Irwindale, California based company that manufactures computers. Zotac sold or offered for sale desktop and high expandability computers in California, from February 2019 to February 2023.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Zotac was manufacturing and offering for sale desktop and high expandability computers that did not meet the efficiency standard and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Zotac executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on October 9, 2023, for $350,922.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Zotac has also agreed to a compliance plan to discontinue sales of non-compliant models and certify all eligible models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
