Abstract
Sulphur Springs Union School Districtsubmitted an application to receive grant funding under the California Energy Commission (CEC)Solicitation GFO-17-607 to replace nine old diesel school buses. Sulphur Springs Union School District was awarded funding for nine vehicle-to-grid ready electric school buses and the supporting electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Sulphur Springs Union School District purchased nine electric school buses and installed nine chargers through the CEC. The buses were placed into service January 10, 2022, and districts were offered workforce training to help support the successful deployment of the new electric fleet. The old, diesel-powered buses were also dismantled and removed from service. This project found that thenine electric school busesreducedlifetime greenhouse gas emissions by 1,637.59short tonsand provided cost savings of$37,298.77 during the 12-monthreporting period.
