​Escondido Union High School District Electric School Bus and Infrastructure​

Escondido Union High School D submitted an application to receive grant funding under the California Energy Commission (CEC) Solicitation GFO-17-607 to replace two old diesel school buses. Escondido Union High School District was awarded funding for two vehicle-to-grid ready electric school buses and the supporting electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Escondido Union High School District purchased two electric school buses and installed two chargers through the CEC. The last bus was placed into service on April 02,2022, and districts were offered workforce training to help support the successful deployment of the new electric fleet. The old, diesel-powered buses were also dismantled and removed from service. This project found that the electric school buses reduced lifetime greenhouse gas emissions by 152.53 short tons and that the electric school buses will have a lifetime cost savings of $63,339.
