The California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) has approved the following energy analysis computer programs that includes all Alternative Calculation Methods approved for the 2016 Building Energy Efficiency Standards (2016 Energy Standards) in accordance with the California Code of Regulations: Title 24, Part 1, Article 1, Section 10-109.

The individual programs are listed below under specific categories. These are the only programs authorized to be used under the performance approach (energy budget) method of compliance for the 2016 Energy Standards.

CBECC-Res 2016.3.1 was approved 6/22/2018 for demonstrating performance compliance with the residential provisions of the 2016 California Building Energy Efficiency Standards (effective date January 1, 2017).

CBECC-Res 2016.3.0 was approved 7/12/2017. Permit applications made on or after October 25, 2017 may use either CBECC-Res 2016.3.0 or 2016.3.1.

Right-Energy Title 24

Wrightsoft Right-Energy Title 24 Version 3.1 was approved on 08/07/2018 as an alternative calculation method for demonstrating performance compliance with the single family residential provisions of the 2016 California Building Energy Efficiency Standards.

Wrightsoft Right-Energy Title 24 Version 3.0 was approved on 11/20/2017. Permit applications made on or after October 25, 2017 may use either Right-Energy Title 24 Version 3.0 or Version 3.1

EnergyPro 7.2, using the simplified geometry two-dimensional (2D) option of the CBECC-COM API, was approved 10/23/2017 as an alternative calculation method for demonstrating performance compliance with the nonresidential provisions of the 2016 California Building Energy Efficiency Standards.

EnergyPro 7.1 was approved 9/27/2016 and shall continue to be valid for demonstrating compliance with the nonresidential provisions of the 2016 California Building Energy Efficiency Standards.
