The California Energy Commission (CEC) will jointly conduct a workshop with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to solicit input from stakeholders to inform the scope of the joint agency report required by Senate Bill (SB) 100, the “100 Percent Clean Energy Act of 2018” (de León, Chapter 312, Statutes of 2018).

CEC Chair David Hochschild will conduct this workshop with CARB Executive Officer Richard Corey and CPUC Commissioner Liane Randolph. A quorum of commissioners may be in attendance, but no votes will be taken

The workshop will include opening comments from SB 100 agency principals, including SB 100 alignment with other state efforts, such as economy-wide decarbonization, integrated resource planning, and promoting a safe, reliable, and equitable energy future for all Californians.

Staff from the three agencies will present context for the report process, including CARB’s Climate Change Scoping Plan and an overview of CPUC and CEC clean energy programs. Staff will outline the report development process, describing report requirements, interagency coordination, public engagement, and topical workshop planning. Additionally, staff will discuss key scoping questions for the joint agency report, as well as key energy issues for the Central Valley to be considered in the process.

This will be followed by public comment. Following public comment, the principals will provide closing remarks.
