California Energy Commission (CEC) staff will conduct a workshop to provide a public kick-off of two California offshore wind energy research projects. Staff will also provide overviews on the California Energy Infrastructure Planning Analyst (CEIPA, http://ceipa.databasin.org/) and California Offshore Wind Energy Gateway (https://caoffshorewind.databasin.org/).

During this workshop, scientists from Point Blue Conservation Science and Conservation Biology Institute will provide overviews on two research projects funded by the Ocean Protection Council (OPC) that will gather and model geospatial data for assessing environmental constraints and tradeoffs for offshore wind energy development in federal waters. Staff will provide an overview on the CEIPA and discuss future enhancements, including application to the marine environment. Attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback and join informal working groups on both these offshore wind research projects and the CEIPA.
