Senate Bill 123 Pre-Rulemaking Workshop

The California Energy Commission (CEC) will host a workshop to solicit public input on the proposed direction for new CEC regulations pursuant to Senate Bill (SB) 123.

SB 123 became effective on July 10, 2023 and included specific requirements for electric vehicle (EV) charger payment methods, reporting, labeling, signage, and interoperability billing standards, a concept also referred to as network roaming. On April 10, 2024, the CEC adopted an Order Instituting Rulemaking starting a pre-rulemaking process to implement the requirements of SB 123. This workshop will solicit public input on the requirements of SB 123 and provide input to CEC staff on future proposed regulations.

The public can participate in the workshop consistent with the attendance instructions below. The CEC aims to begin promptly at the start time posted and the end time is an estimate based on the proposed agenda. The workshop may end sooner or later than the posted end time.
