In 2017, the CEC awarded the nonprofit Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE) a grant to design and implement an online platform to launch multiple statewide EV charging rebate programprojects. This platform became the California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project now better known as , CALeVIP 1.0. From 2017 through 2022, CALeVIP 1.0 launched 13 regional projects were launched in covering 36 California counties to fund Level 2 and direct current (DC) fast chargers. These 13 projects offered $223 million for in rebates, which included $186 million from the CEC and $37 million from regional partnerships. 

While none of the 13 regional projects are accepting applications any longer, the CEC has awarded and launched two new EV charger block grants. CALeVIP 2.0, implemented by CSE, offers rebates for the purchase and installation of high-powered DC fast chargers. More information can be found at www.calevip.org
