Internships & Fellowships at the California Energy Commission

The California Energy Commission (CEC) welcomes students to seek out internships in which they can further develop their knowledge and skills in a professional setting. Please contact the programs directly for further information on how to apply for an internship with the Commission.

Chief Counsel's Internships

The Chief Counsel's Office accepts applications throughout the year for full-time, paid summer internships, credit internships during the school year that support a minimum of 16 hours of work per week, and post-bar exam volunteer or stipend opportunities.

CSUS Executive Fellowship Program

The Executive Fellowship Program is sponsored by the Center for California Studies at California State University, Sacramento (Sacramento State) and the Office of the Governor to provide an experiential learning opportunity in California state government. California’s executive branch is one of the most dynamic in the United States. Executive Fellows function as full-time professional staff in executive offices at various levels of California’s executive branch which includes the office of the governor, constitutional offices, cabinet secretaries, commissions and departments.

Stanford Energy Internship in California (SEIC)

The Stanford Energy Internships in California (SEIC) is a combined effort provided to students through Stanford in Government, to promote the spirit of public service to students and encourage them to consider public policy positons after graduation. It offers them an opportunity to work alongside Commission staff and gain experience and knowledge in energy related public service.
