Scaled-Up Gas Decommissioning Pilots

Conduct research to facilitate potential larger-scale pilots and improve understanding of the costs and benefits of decommissioning gas pipelines that would otherwise require safety investments on maintenance or replacement. The potential large-scale pilots must be replicable and take a geographically targeted approach to support a cost effective and equitable gas transition. Areas of analysis include gas system planning, building electrification, energy equity for under-resourced communities, cost savings by avoiding stranded assets, and other safety implications.
