Feasibility of Underground Hydrogen Storage in California

The research will investigate the technical and economic viability of large-volume geologic hydrogen storage opportunities to help meet the state’s climate goals. Projects under this research initiative could develop a framework for policy makers, regulators, and utilities to identify the main options for geologic hydrogen storage in California that match the needs of emerging hydrogen industry applications, considering the economic, social, and environmental constraints.
