Please note that these diagrams are only examples and should not be construed as additional requirements. All facilities using a storage device must comply with applicable RPS Eligibility Guidebook requirements.
This configuration shows metering at the point of interconnection or high side of the transformer (M1).
Reporting at M1: Measurement at M1 may be a reduced reporting value compared to renewable energy produced due to roundtrip efficiency losses of the energy storage device being included in the measurement. The energy storage device may be considered an addition or enhancement.
This configuration shows metering at the renewable energy resource only (M2). Generation reported must be adjusted to reflect the energy being delivered to the grid at the high side of the transformer. The energy storage device is not considered an addition or enhancement, and losses associated with the energy storage device do not need to be included in loss accounting.
This configuration shows metering at the point of interconnection or high side of the transformer (M1) and at the renewable energy resource (M2).
- Reporting at M1: Measurement at M1 may be a reduced reporting value compared to renewable energy produced due to roundtrip efficiency losses of the energy storage device being included in the measurement. The energy storage device may be considered an addition or enhancement.
- Reporting at M2: Measurement at M2 will be the full quantity of the renewable energy resource. Generation reported must be adjusted to reflect the energy being delivered to the grid at the high side of the transformer. The energy storage device is not considered an addition or enhancement, and losses associated with the energy storage device do not need to be included in loss accounting.
- If an additional third meter is located at the energy storage device output this would not be used for RPS reporting.

- Reporting at M2: Measurement at M2 will be the full quantity of the renewable energy resource, measured in Direct Current (DC) power before inversion to Alternating Current (AC). Generation reported must be adjusted to reflect the energy being delivered to the grid at the high side of the transformer including the conversion losses from DC to AC. The energy storage device is not considered an addition or enhancement, and losses associated with the energy storage device do not need to be included in loss accounting.
