The California Energy Commission adopted the current regulations on October 14, 2015, and the regulations took effect on April 12, 2016.

The California Energy Commission is currently updating the regulations to address a number of recent laws. Documents and information on the update are available in the rulemaking proceeding page. To receive notifications pertaining to the updates, please subscribe to the “Renewables” listserve.

The first RPS enforcement regulations were adopted on June 12, 2013, and took effect on October 1, 2013. The regulations were subsequently modified, with current regulations taking effect on April 12, 2016. Stakeholders can view documents for these prior rulemaking proceedings to adopt and modify the regulations.
