Jason Harville is the director of the Energy Data and Analytics Office for the California Energy Commission. His objective is to improve how data informs energy policy and program design. He leads the creation of a new enterprise data management and analytics platform, as well as the modernization of data governance and security policies and procedures.
Harville served at the Energy Commission in a variety of capacities, including providing expert technical analysis to support the advancement of distributed energy resources, managing research contracts and projects aimed at developing and integrating renewable energy generation, and serving as a technical advisor on developing a pilot project for an enterprise data management platform.
Harville was as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He received awards including the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and multiple letters of commendation.
He earned a master’s degree in information and data science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor of science in applied mathematics from UC Davis. He is passionate about big data, machine learning, and harnessing data to do good.
