Sandra Nakagawa is the director of the Integrated Energy Policy Report (IEPR) for the California Energy Commission (CEC). In this role she oversees annual IEPR, the state’s foremost energy policy and planning document.
Nakagawa worked as the legislative manager for the CEC’s Office of Governmental and International Affairs and as a policy director for the California Climate and Agriculture Network (CalCAN). She also held several roles in California State Legislature, including as a senior consultant in the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee and as a legislative aide for Assemblymember Mark Stone.
Nakagawa holds a doctorate and a master of arts in sociology from Stanford University where she studied gender disparities in health and climate practices. She has a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. She was a California Council on Science and Technology Science and Technology Policy fellow in 2018 and a New Leaders Council fellow in 2023.
