Rob Cook serves as the director over the California Energy Commission’s Administrative and Financial Services Division. Cook oversees accounting, budgets, business services, contracting, human resources, and information technology.
He was the chief operating officer for the California Department of State Hospitals, deputy director for interagency support at the California Department of General Services (DGS), and executive officer for the State Allocation Board (SAB).
At DGS, Cook executed two consecutive executive orders downsizing the state vehicle fleet by more than 11,000 vehicles and reducing the use of take-home vehicles by more than 5,300. At the SAB, he allocated more than $6.7 billion for school construction and modernization projects in 2½ years and implemented grant programs for high-performance schools, career technical education, and seismic safety.
He earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California, Davis, and a bachelor of arts degree in political science from UCLA. He is nearly an empty-nester father of three and lives with his wife, Lori, in Elk Grove. Cook is an avid outdoorsman and is always plotting another opportunity to get out on a trail.
